There are a lot of scenes that get cut from the series for the sake of budgeting time and fitting each episode into about 40 minutes. It’s possible that there was a scene from this episode or an earlier one in which Regina connects the dots of exactly who Emma really is. Nevertheless, I actually liked how the writers decided to portray Regina speaking as if she’s known for a long time exactly who Emma is. It makes it much more suspenceful for the viewers to be left questioning how much she’s known and for how long. I think this may have actually been deliberate on the part of the writers. I think it makes it more interesting to show that hey, Regina’s a lot smarter than we’ve perhaps thought all along. It’ll make it very interesting to re-watch the episodes knowing that Regina’s knows. There are probably hints all over the place that show she is putting together the pieces of the puzzle.
