Didn’t Regina say she got Henry when he was three weeks old? I have a feeling that if Emma had a baby in jail at age 16 or 17 then she probably didn’t keep him. It’s likely that Henry would have been taken into child custody and become a ward of the state from the time of his birth. I doubt many underage criminals are allowed to keep their babies behind bars. Even if her sentence came to an end just after she gave birth, we know she didn’t keep Henry very long at all (not more than a week or so).

As much as I’d like for the car to have belonged to a young Emma, there is the practical issue that Phee raised. How would a young teenager just out of the foster system and caught up in a bad situation afford a car? Even if someone gave it to her (e.g. Henry’s dad), how would she have kept it while she served her time? She had no income to store it. I could see her getting it maybe at age 19 or 20 after being out of prison and working a few years to save up as she rebuilt her life.
