I agree. I think Hook gained knowledge of the dagger from Cora. Cora, being a former student of Rumpel’s, probably found out about its existence and kept that knowledge to herself. But after she learned that Rumpel helped Regina push her through the looking glass, I think she decided to spill her secret.
