In The Return, part of Mr Gold’s speech to August, when he thinks he’s Bae is:
… I just want you to know, that ever since you left, ever since you crossed the barriers of time and space, in every waking moment…
That implies that Bae jumped through time, not just between worlds. You don’t need Neverland and the Peter Pan theory in the equation to make the passage of time work, because Bae could have landed in our world at any point in time, and most believe that Rumple designed the curse to coincide with the time that Bae arrived in our world.
