Marilou, I am francophone and fluent in both french and English. French is my mother tongue so I’m well versed in the language. ]The french have 3 different words for the same adjective “my”: mon, ma, mes. All are a possessive adjective of the 1st person. Mon is used when it’s singular masculine; ma is used when it’s singular feminine; and mes is used when it’s plural either masculine or feminine. The use of any of the three possessive adjectives will never change the definition of a word, it will only reflect the sing/plural & masc/fem. of the word it is attributed to. .
I love how you say that as if I wasn’t french myself 😉 I’m a montreal all the way, through and through. born and raised on Le Plateau. (si tu vien pas de mon coin de pays, la derniere phrase a perdue toute sa valeur…)
as I was trying to make the matter simpler for our english speaking friend I think I made it worst… something got lost in translation I guess (badum tssss!!!)
and I have to disagree in some context, some words are always plural… Like “voeux de mariage”
anyhoot, we’ll find out for sure only when the episode airs.!
EDIT: btw… I don’t know if I read that right in your previous post, if I didn’t, please ignore the following few sentences.
there is no such thing as masculine/plural with a possessive adjective! mon chevaux – mon jouets – mon livres
