The spoiler is bringing a question to my mind: Flash-back, or present day? In the flash-back Emma has about Neal, she herself doesn’t know yet “why” he left her like that after he met August. Emma may not know that Goldmight have had his eyes on her life for a long time. He, and Henrymay have been close to her for quite a while, and she didn’t even know it!
