I finally listened to the last podcast episode and I’ve had this theory for awhile after watching the last episode, even though we didn’t see Greg in Tamara’s flashbacks when she met Neal in New York, I think it’s possible Greg was in the picture long before she met Neal.
I agree that Tamara and Owen/Greg probably go way back, perhaps even to their childhoods or young adulthoods, before Tamara ever met August or Neal.
Here’s my thought. Everyone’s been asking why Tamara is so obsessed with magic. My head cannon is that she was driven to obsession with magic because of Greg. We know why Greg’s back in Storybrooke is to find his father but Tamara probably figured out after meeting Greg, that magic attracts magic.
I think Greg and Tamara both have different reasons for wanting magic, but certainly what drew them together initially was their passion for it. I’m not sure what sparked Tamara’s interest with magic to begin with (since her passion for it probably predates Owen) but meeting Greg probably did fan the flame. Greg has been searching ever since he left SB as the little boy named Owen, and Tamara said she’d been searching for a long time, too. They probably met while they were each individually searching for magic and then became partners in their quest to find it. Owen probably told Tamara he’d been to a magical town as a child, and then Tamara might have used her enchanted taser to track down the Dragon, which led her to August, then Bae and eventually to SB. I’m still not sure what the deal is with her taser, but it certainly is no ordinary weapon. (Maybe she uses it to steal power from magical beings).
When I say magic attracts magic, Emma and Neal are the perfect examples of that. Neither of them knew at the time of Tallahassee that they were both from fairytale land, but they still got together and Emma ended up having Henry.
I think this is a really good point, but I think they’re two different cases. Whereas Greg and Tamara were drawn together by a common interest in magic, I think what drew Emma and Baelfire together probably was actual magic (since the curse was meant to find Baelfire and Emma is the savior).
It took Greg a long time to find Storybrooke because there’s no visible entrance to it from the outside world, but Tamara being hellbent on getting magic (I’m presuming for personal gain until we know otherwise), prayed off Greg’s obsession to find the ultimate magic: Storybrooke.
Yes, I agree with this thought. I think Tamara was already intent of discovering magic, and when she heard Greg’s tale of woe from childhood, she played off of his search to get what she wanted. Tamara might just be playing Owen, whereas I think Owen really fell for Tamara since she’s probably the only one who believes his story about a vanishing town.
