….but if Bae had chosen to stay with hook, that wouldn’t have happened. As much as I love Bae to pieces, I find him partly to blame for his Neverland fiasco.

He was pretty adamant about not staying on the JR. But then the question is, should Hook, knowing how dangerous the Lost Ones are, have put his foot down and insisted that Bae was staying, if only for his own personal safety? Hook probably didn’t feel in a position to wield that sort of parental declaration though, given how Bae had knocked back the proposal of them being family. It’s an emotionally complex situation from both of their perspectives.

It is not so much Hook should have put his foot down, so much as he should have tried not to profit from betraying Bae. Keeping Bae safe for his own good may have been as Snow calls it “the hard path”, but it seemed Hook had already set him up, rather than warning Bae. He may have been willing to cancel the betrayal, if Bae didn’t reject him for suspecting exactly that sort of thing in the first place.

It’s a massive gesture on his part, and it will be interesting to see how readily Nealfire accepts it when they do meet up again, (which I’m sure they will).

I agree.
