Hey,how have y’all been doing over the summer break?Anyone find any interesting shows to watch over the summer?I’ve been watching Lost(I must say,I wasn’t all that thrilled with it at first, but now I really, really enjoy it!!!),Hart of Dixie,Alphas, and Person of Interest.Hart of Dixie is a pretty entertaining show. It’s about this uppity doctor from New York who gets forced to move down to this town called Blue Bell in Alabama.Pretty funny and never a dull moment!!!Alphas is about this team of people with supernatural powers who team up together with neurologist and psychiatrist Dr, Rosen to investigate crimes involving other Alphas. And Person of Interest(co-starring Michael Emerson, who played evil mastermind Benjamin Linus in Lost!!!!)follows the story of multibillionaire Harold Finch(Emerson),who teams up with ex-CIA agent John Reese to prevent violent crimes in NYC,as predicted by a Machine built by Finch.

July 8, 2013 at 12:35 am #199764JosephineParticipantI watched part of season one of “Hart of Dixie” and then for some reason quit watching it. I’ll have to get back into it. I’m trying to catch up on “Grimm”. Right now I’m working through Season one. I’ve see the second half of season two, so I hope to catch up before the new season starts.
Netflix is a godsend in the summer. I’ve been trying to watch some movies that I otherwise would never watch. And I can catch up on the tv shows I’ve never seen.

July 8, 2013 at 1:26 am #199766RumplesGirlKeymasterAll hail Netflix! My instant queue is finally getting a dent put into it–a rewatch of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Walking Dead, Lost Girl. I’m about to start “The Fall” which has Graham in it!
Live on TV I’ve been watching Under the Dome which is intriguing enough to keep me coming back week to week. As much as I hate to admit it, I have two “guilty pleasure shows”: Pretty Little Liars and Twisted. Project Runway is also coming back soon, thank goodness.

I love Netflix too, though there are so many titles they don’t offer streaming. I might try Hulu plus at some point. It lists Lost in Austen, which I saw one episode and mean to see the rest sometime.

Oh my, I used to have the North and South and its sequel Love and War on video. I think me and my sister wore it out from years of watching it. It was hilarious years later to watch the commercials from the 80s. Don’t bother with the third installment Heaven and Hell. It wasn’t worth it and probably never should have been made. Those shows made us love Patrick Swayze years before Dirty Dancing.

July 8, 2013 at 8:51 am #199771RumplesGirlKeymasterThe BBC North and South is excellent! Richard Armitage….mmmmm.
I thought Netflix had Lost in Austen? At least I watched it there a while back.

July 8, 2013 at 5:48 pm #199860JosephineParticipantWhat is the BBC North and South about?
Jessie, I loooovve Road to Avonlea, too. In the U.S. it was aired on the Disney channel and just called Avonlea. I watched it for a long time and then missed the last season because we got rid of Disney channel, which was a premium station at the time like HBO and Cinemax.
RG, it might be gone. Netflix went through recently and culled a few thousand streaming shows from their rolls. It might have been one of the casualties.
I forget what I put in my Netflix queue, so it will be a surprise when it comes. It’s either going to be Jane Austen’s Persuasion (which is a favorite of mine) or Disney’s Fantasia (which I’ve never seen before).
On the fairy tale side, I recently saw Mirror, Mirror finally and didn’t like it at all. I was surprised at that. I’ll have to queue up Snow White and the Huntsman to see how it compares. I’m not a fan of Kristen Stewart so I’m prepared not to like it. Maybe I’ll be surprised.

July 8, 2013 at 7:10 pm #199865RumplesGirlKeymasterNorth and South is based on a book written around a little after when Austen was writing and follows a pretty similar vein of guy and girl who don’t like each other because of class/weath/bad impressions, ect. Richard Armitage plays the leading guy and he is DELISH.
