I do think BF has been used pretty conveniently, and therefore, if it is picking between “she’s an evil mastermind” and “the writers were sloppy”, as fans we are hoping it is the former.

That’s a good point RG, that BF doesn’t seem to think too much of Nova’s skills at the start of the episode, and then does make this special appeal to Dreamy to step aside. The other way to look at that though is she’s of the school of “hard teacher”, the one who never gives praise and pushes you because they know you need toughening up to achieve what you’re truly capable of achieving. I’m not sure, of course, she could just totally not value her fairy-slave-minion’s happiness at all in service of the greater good too.
The scene when Snow gets “air support” made it seem like there are a TON of fairies too, so why IS BF so concerned about losing ONE? There were also a lot of eggs to hatch (and like Screwball Ninja’s essay asked…what made those eggs!).
