I’m hoping we find out more about how Rumple made the curse and why he needed the Fairy Godmother’s wand specifically. I’m doing my rewatch now and I noticed something interesting in 1×04 that I never thought of before and don’t remember it being discussed (though in all fairness, I’ve been quite busy so please forgive if it has!)
I just posted this elsewhere too but I’m pretty sure the Fairy Godmother was cut off at a very important moment that would explain WHY Rumple wanted her wand. I’m not sure if we’ve seen anything spoilery for season 3 that will address this but I do mention some other possibly spoilery connections to it which is why it’s in this section.
Is it just me or did her speech about the wand cut off at a crucial moment and I just never realized it?
“This wand has the power to take you to your ball…to your prince…and to a (land) -”
*fairy godmother explodes*
I swear that last word sounded like LAND. We know Rumple wanted the wand and that he was desperately searching to get to where Bae was and that obviously getting control of the wand didn’t let him do that unless it got him somewhere he needed something from for the curse but uh…I never noticed that in there before!
We saw Rumple ask King George how to find the fairy godmother who was patron to his family but we have had barely any history on her (much less the Blue Fairy but that’s something else entirely).
Did anybody else think the same thing? And do you think we’ll learn anything about it through finding out the lengths that Rumple has gone to to make the curse (possibly involving some of his past time spent in Neverland where I think he got the squid ink per conversations we’ve had elsewhere about the mermaids and the fact that Rumple knows and fears Pan etc.)
I would hazard a guess that we should be getting lots of Rumple backstory especially relating to his time in Neverland (especially after that sneak peak clip with Felix and I would think we’d have to see his dealings with Pan etc but since mermaids are in fact in NL and we know only mermaids and Rumple can get squid ink, I’m wondering what the connection might be to the fairy godmother’s wand.
Clearly it didn’t work to take him straight to Bae but I could see it having power to go somewhere else. Maybe there’s a connection to other fairies like Tink?
I have no idea at this point, it’s after 4:30 in the morning and maybe I’m hearing things and thinking crazy thoughts but can somebody else check the ep and see if they agree with any of this? It’s been so long since I rewatched Season 1 I never even noticed what she was saying right before she exploded and its significance, even once we knew Rumple wanted the wand! (Am I the only one?)

But I don’t know if the Fairy Godmother wanted Cinderella to go to another land…. She said that it would take her “to her prince” and her Prince was in the Enchanted Forest. That kind of raises another question though – do fairies have precognition abilities?

I’m not sure that Cinderella would have needed it for any reason, but it sounded rather odd to me, like it was just a bigger explanation of the powers of the wand maybe? Like the FG was basically saying “look how powerful thing is, it can do this, this and th-” The first two obviously did concern Cinderella (getting to the ball and the prince) and the third thing (being land or whatever it would have been) sound more like “and it can even do this really awesome thing that’s extreme and you won’t be needing but isn’t it cool that it’s so powerful?” kind of thing. That’s how I interpreted it anyway. Looking forward to what everyone else thinks though!

All I hear is, “and to -” *BOOM*I do hope we see that infamous wand again though, because it gets around, and there’s supposed to be a price that had to be paid for Robin using it to save Marian.
September 26, 2013 at 8:09 am #212142JosephineParticipantWe were talking about this last month and studying screencaps and based on them the history of that particular wand in current chronological order is:
- Rumple has the wand sitting on a stand in the Dark Castle.
- Robin Hood steals the wand and saves Marian.
- Cinderella’s FGM somehow obtains wand and floats down to help Cinderella.
- Rumple kills FGM and takes back the wand.
- After the curse, Mr. Gold has the wand at his shop.
That wand sure gets around so it wouldn’t be shocking to see it show up yet again.

September 26, 2013 at 8:23 am #212145RumplesGirlKeymasterFor sure I think it comes back in. From screen shots we’ve seen that it’s the same wand as in Lacey that RH stole. Some also suspect it may be connected to Tink.
If you’re of the opinion that Tamara is RH’s and Marian’s daughter than there are a lot of theories about what that wand was used to do, including sending Marian and baby to our world. Then Marian died because that’s the price of magic.
*also, hello! and hello, magic mice! Looks like they’re up and stretching their legs. Getting ready for the Homeric epic type posts. *

Yes, we talked in detailed about this Wand in chat until I could confirm that it wasn’t TB that was stolen which we did so the wand must the the Godmothers. I too didn’t her hear say anything about land either.
Note: I don’t have twitter but people have been asking for me to confirm whose wand was it that RH stolen and if it would come in latter.
September 26, 2013 at 12:15 pm #212173TheWatcherParticipantI actually do hear her say “and to a l–” before she is annihilated. However, if Rumple did possess a wand that could travel to a land without magic, why did he never use it?

Imma just throw this out here: is it possible you can only use the wand for good intentions? times we’ve seen wand usage:
–Rumple changed sad Ella into pretty Ella
–RH healed Marian
–Blue changed Jiminy into his happy chirpy self
But we have yet to see the wand be used for anything negative. Could Rumple NOT use the wand to go to another land because the wand somehow knew what he was trying to do?
(reading this back, my theory makes no sense because surely a wand is better than a Curse) (ugh, go with it and discus)
