So, 3×1 confirms that:
– When Emma gave birth to Henry, the light flickered off and on. This is a clear parallel to when Emma first arrived in SB in1x1 and blew a fuse on a street lamp when she slammed the door of her car (the same car in which she and Neal probably conceived Henry). This suggests that Henry himself is very special and magical. This also suggests that Henry, like his mom, is a baby born of True Love.
-Henry was being tested by Peter Pan to see how much Henry believes. Clearly, Henry is the truest believer, because his belief mixed with fairy dust enabled them to fly. This suggest that belief is what fuels magic. Therefore, Henry is likely magical, too, like his mom.
– Neal/Baelfire was able to do magic, not just because of his blood tie to his dad, but because of his love for Emma. Mulan encouraged Neal to think of Emma and of his emotions for her, which allowed him to use the magical orb to view Emma in NL. Neal’s love for Emma is what is going to motivate him to fight to get back to her this season.
Conclusion: Emma, Neal and Henry are all linked by magic, in this case true love, the most powerful magic of all.

September 29, 2013 at 9:09 pm #212824RumplesGirlKeymasterIt seems to be that all people can do magic to some degree. For example, Snow is able to do magic without being trained. However, we clearly see that Neal uses his love for Emma to fuel the globe (which was awesome). What we haven’t seen yet is Emma use TL for Neal to save him in any regard. Obviously *puts on Shipping goggles* I’d like to see that.

It’s really hard not to view this episode with my shipper goggles on, but then I really don’t have to. 😛 But I’ve got to say that Henry is fantastic. I don’t know why he has so many haters out there.

September 29, 2013 at 9:16 pm #212832RumplesGirlKeymasterI love that Neal knew about the blood magic. He was really paying attention to Rumple for the months they were together as son and Dark One.

Henry was born at 8:15. Totally not a coincidence. (does this mean his birthday is Sept 29)

Totally isn’t a coincidence. Bae went to NL at 8:15. The clock read 8:15 when Emma entered SB and had been stuck at that time for all of the curse.

Maybe! That could explain why Emma told Ashley she was 18 when she had Henry. She was rounding up because Emma was 17 and 11 months when she gave birth to Henry. That would explain how Henry was already 10 when he showed up on Emma’s doorstep on her 28th birthday.

Neal just chose not to use them because of his hate of magic. I think Henry’s gonna discover his own magical qualities this season.

I think so too. And I think Henry’s first step was learning that he has the heart of the truest believer.

That has to be something very powerful for Pan to be after it and to have gone through all that trouble. I so loved when GOAT got their comeuppance! I was actually hoping Rumple would put the arrow back in and leave her there!
September 30, 2013 at 7:37 pm #213133LaurenParticipanthenry and emma are definately connected by more than their bloodline.. i thought it was great how both emma and henry took their leap of faiths at the same time… could henry actually be harnessing emmas magic? like how a baby gets its nutrients of its mother through the womb, is it possible henry received some true love juice? maybe henry isnt actually magical but can still harness that power from his mom? because again as emma was believing henry did? i have a feeling they going to turn it around and have henry not be the heart of the truest believer… but emma
i so balled my eyes out that first seen emma didnt even LOOK at Henry which makes that first scene of them together when shes in the bathroom composing herself its the first time shes EVER seen her son, which again makes all their touches and hugs after even more touching def need to rewatch some of those scenes.
i love how emma realised their bickering was calling the storm def signs of more to come Rumples words hit home and its actually going to help her now be the leader!
