Was just looking at the page of concept art they have up on the ABC site, and noticed that there’s one for 305.

The pic is titled, “Warning Shot”. Warning shot for what, I wonder?
PS. We’re getting the red vest again! YES!!!!
Oh red vest. I do love that red vest.
Gotta be past right? We know this is how Hook became a pirate…hm.
He was in the war? But what land was he born in? He could be in the Navy, but then something happened and he became a pirate. I wonder how his clothes survived over 30o hundred years hahaha.
What if he was sentenced to death for something and some pirate saved him and then he decided to become one? I kind of got that idea from the warning shot. We know so little about Hook, and his character has such a potential, he doesn’t need a triangle for that 😛

I agree. This will be Killian’s backstory.

So…was he kidnapped?
He’s got both hands, so yes, this is definitely from the past.
Wonder if this could be his first time being attacked after he became a pirate Captain?

Hmmm. Colin has hinted that his portrayal of a pirate is more “Princess Bride” than anything else. In that movie, Westley’s ship was attacked, but rather than be killed, he’s taken captive until one day, the Dread Pirate Roberts appoints Westley to take his place as the next captain. I could imagine a similar story happening to Killian Jones.
Another possibility is that his dad was a sea captain who abandoned Killian, and Killian was found and taken aboard a pirate ship. Young Killian found a de facto family amongst the crew and rose through the ranks to become a pirate.

Those three ships coming toward him aren’t waving any kind of pirate flag. They have typical white sails that I associate with the British (good guy) Navy. Isn’t Liam supposed to be a Navy man? What if he abandoned Killian as a boy but then tried to search him out again?

If Captain Killian Jones happens to open fire on a Navy ship that he doesn’t realise it being Captained by his long lost father, I will legit ugly cry.
Maybe the concept art is after Killian Jones became a pirate captain, and the navy ships are attacking the Jolly Roger.
