That is what worries me really, that Neal ends up in a can’t win situation. If he yells he is acting immature, like a boy, possessive, but if he backs off, then he is not fighting for her. I mean what could he say, to prove he loves her, yet express to her the raw deal that is finding out that the woman you love is mixed up with the guy that your own mother chose too? It is just super-messed up, and while the writers think it is “fun” to create this type of situation, in terms of actual character development it is happening in such a strange way.
We don’t know yet if Emma truly understands the dynamics between Rumple, Neal and Hook, or whether she is thinking all that doesn’t matter now. Neal is dead, and Rumple’s run off and either way, Hook is the one by her side and helping her.
So is it really as it would appear to those who think Hook has truly put his past away, and is just a nice honorable mini-Charming hero now? Or is there a further twist? For example, we have only Hook’s word that dreamshade is poisonous and deadly, and that the Lost Boys use it. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s led allies on to think he is more useful to them then he truly is. What strikes me as the oddest thing though, is why didn’t Tamara and Greg shoot him? After they talk in the diamond minds, they are going to destroy all of “his kind”, and no longer need him, so why let him have the chance? Well if that was their orders, then that’s why they did it, but we know who sent the orders now. Peter Pan, who just happened to have prior dealing with Hook.
I do fully expect Hook to be a hero, but the question is when, and before then what happens? What good is a pirate character if he does not do something piratey?
