In the flashback of the FTL that was, we saw the EQ take Ariels voice and tell her the only thing worse than losing your true love is never telling them how your feel and being rejected.  I saw a post on Tumblr that really deepened the meaning of Regina telling Ariel this.  Regina was speaking from the heart – she never went into the bar to meet Robin.  In my OTP she constantly has this thought in the back of her mind of what could have happened if she had walked into the bar that night and introduced herself to him.  But she is suffering with this pain of never knowing and never having a shot at love again.  She knows this pain and she inflicts it upon Ariel.

    What do you guys think?

I think that line has a two fold meaning for Regina. On the one hand, she’s still bitter that she can never speak to Daniel again. On the other hand, she’s still beating herself up for not having spoken to the man with the lion tattoo. It was a great line for them to give her!

Nice thought very interesting, and another reason I love the depths (ha hah) of this episode.

And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
