I’m not convinced that Hook is over Milah yet. He may be starting to see the possibility of a happy future without her and without the ongoing seeking of revenge, but he’s just barely starting ot see it. Emma feels like a rebound fling. Hook’s mindset is still on viewing relationships as winning competitions. Maybe part of his growth means he has to “lose” this competition. Emma is too world wise to fall for this outside of the immediate drama of needing to get Henry back.
I read people’s concerns that the Triange of Doom (love the phrase) will really get going after Henry is saved and the group leaves Neverland. Yet, once Henry is saved, he’s going to be around. He’ll still be Emma’s top priority. Since Henry has decided that Emma will be his custodial parent, he’ll frequently be nearby with his child needs, shelter, meals, regular routines including school and bedtimes. How does Hook fit into that? Is he really the kind of man who can come in second to a child on a daily basis? Can he be tied down to a domestic life? I don’t see that as a natural part of his personality.
Do either Neal or Hook know that Henry is Emma’s True Love (one of her true loves)? I could see that being disconcerting for Hook and amusing for Neal. I’d like to see discussions of Milah with regard to her choices and the opposite choices that Emma is making. Hook is watching a woman repeatedly choose her son. Neal is watching Emma be the mother to Henry that he wanted for himself.
I’m not sure that Neal will have too much trouble with Emma’s magic. He doesn’t like dark magic, but the kind of magic that saves an entire town probably won’t bother him. I think he’ll be pragmatic about it, but definitely support her making healthy magical choices as opposed to destructive ones.
As for the picture of Hook in the yellow bug, I wonder if the point is to demonstrate that he doesn’t quite fit in Emma’s life that way, a square peg/round hole situation.
