First thing I have to say is that I love how under wraps this reveal was. As much as I love the whole Nealfire thing, it was a little dissipointing that by the time we got conformation there was more then one person in the fandom that just assumed it was right. This one really came from left field.

Second, I think it’s a bit early for us to start speculating on who Rumple’s mother is simply because we have almost nothing to work with. I would like, however, to see her be some sort of dark witch or something. One of the things that makes Henry so special is him having so much of both light and dark magic within him as both the product of at least one (probably two, but let’s not start shipping wars) generations of true love and the Dark One (might as well add Pan in the mix as well).

But the thing is that until I am told other wise I assume the laws of genetic inheritance still apply. Because Pan wasn’t Pan when Rumple was conseved then Rumple shouldn’t have that particular kind of magic (which he doesn’t). Because Rumple wasn’t the Dark One when Bae was conseved, Bae shouldn’t have access to that particular kind of magic (which he doesn’t). So then why does it matter if Henry is descended from them if he doesn’t have access to any ‘dark’ magic because of blood inhearentence? Now if Rumple’s mother was some sort of witch that would fix that, especially if it was a kind of magic that didn’t show up in every generation.
