So, I currently work at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on a low level. However I have heard a lot of rumors about the future of my park and have come up with an idea for the overall expansion of the park. I would like to post my ideas in this forum and see what ideas people like and what they don’t. Unfortunately I don’t have any drawing talent so if anyone who does would has the time and the inclination to actually draw some of these ideas I would really love to see them and maybe collaborate. I have ideas for all four theme parks at WDW but I want to do DHS first because I feel it is in the most need and is the most detailed of my plans and ideas.

1. The first of my ideas is one that I think is rather obvious and one inspired by the rumor that they were going to make Toy Story Pizza Planet bigger with more registers. If they move the restaurant where it makes the most sense at least in my mind they would definitely need more registers. Since there is an empty sound stage right next to Toy Story Midway Mania my proposition would be to move it to where that current empty building is. This would probably work out well from a business perspective because they could keep the current Pizza Planet open while they are building the new one which means they could still make money. Then there is also the fact that Toy Story is the most popular attraction in DHS right now….though by the time I am through that might change.

While I do have plans for the location of the current Pizza Planet that has to do with the rumored Star Wars Land so those will be mentioned later. Right now I want to finish my plans for Pixar Place since there are quite a few. So next up is the long rumored Monsters Inc. Rollercoaster. There is a building beside the character greet building for Woody and Buzz that looks quite a bit like Monsters University that could easily work. I would of course leave it up to the Imagineers to ultimately design it but I imagine it would have something do with moving doors….at least that’s what I remember from the movie. I am more of a Disney Princess fan so while I do like the movie it was not necessarily my favorite.

Since they are planning on doing a Starbucks in all the Disney Parks anyways I was thinking that we could put one in where the current Studio Catering Company restaurant is though it would be indoors with an Incredibles theme since the scene where they had to fight Syndrome at the end reminded me of New York which is what Starbucks always make me think of. I was also thinking in between the Incredibles Starbucks and Monsters Inc. rollercoaster there could be a character greet place for Monsters Inc., Incredibles and Up. Up because I would like to replace the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground with one based upon the island from Up. Personally I loved Honey I Shrunk the Kids growing up but I think UP probably would appeal more to kids today.

This is the rumor that they are going to bring Cars land or some of the attractions from that area in to replace the backlot tour and Lights, Motor, Action. I really hope they do this because I think it would be good for the park.
January 1, 2014 at 6:44 pm #234769zlfh4Participant5. For now I am done with Pixar Place. Next there is an empty building called the premiere theater where I think they could move Disney’s Junior Live On Stage. Then they could put in a somewhat updated version of the Prime Time Café because I love the theme of this restaurant and I think it would serve as a much better host to the Play n’ Dine character breakfast. There are a few places where it would go nicely in the vicinity of the Premiere Theatre. Again I have more ideas for the areas where these two places currently reside.
January 1, 2014 at 6:49 pm #234770zlfh4Participant7. Next expansion/modification would be Star Wars Land which would be going where the current Muppets courtyard is as well as the Streets of America. Since I am not a big fan of Star Wars the only stipulation I would have about this section is simply putting the Cantina restaurant where the current pizza planet resides.
January 1, 2014 at 6:57 pm #234771zlfh4Participant8. This next idea is completely my own and one I have had since I first stepped foot into the restaurant Backlot Express. I would turn this restaurant into a sit down restaurant divided into two sides that rotate like the Garden Grill restaurant at Epcot. Considering its location one side would rotate through scenes from Star Wars movies and the other through scenes from the Indiana Jones movies. It would be called the Obi Wan Club since that was an actual restaurant in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the name gives it an obvious tie to Star Wars.

January 2, 2014 at 10:25 am #234841CrownedWithLaurelsParticipantWow! Those are some really cool ideas. I personally have always thought Hollywood Studios needed some extra pizazz. I can’t ride Rockin’ Rollercoaster due to the 0-60 in a couple seconds factor. I can do the craziest rollercoasters, but anything with a velocity change that extreme makes me nauseous. So, whenever we’d go to HS we would go for Star Wars, One Man’s Dream, and Toy Story (if we could even get in!)…and occasionally the Great Movie Ride.
So I’d really like to see them do more. I think a small tribute to the Muppets and Honey I Shrunk the kids would be good to keep but as far as the attractions go, I think they’d be better suited for something else.I really like your idea for an “UP” sort of playground to replace Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground.
I personally really enjoyed the Backlot Tour, although I always think it’s too long. I think if they keep the room at the end with all the different cool costumes and stuff and expand that, it would be quite popular… But do away with the rest. Although I really liked seeing the Disney plane 🙂
I really love the idea of expanding the Star Wars are within the park. There’s so much to work with, they could do an awful lot and it would be probably one of the most popular areas in WDW. It would definitely draw a different crowd more consistently instead of people just coming once a year for Star Wars Weekends.I personally was never a big fan of the disney channel movies, although I did think Camp Rock 1 and 2 was cute and did enjoy it… BUT… I’ve gotta tell you, I LOVED Disney Channel Rocks. I am actually a dancer and wanted to try out so bad (before we moved to TN last year). There was something about it that I really enjoyed and couldn’t put my finger on, so when they did away with it I was really disappointed. I think that’s an advantage HS has, whenever there are shows in the street like that, it draws a crowd, but the set up is way more intimate than MK on main street, I feel like.
Anyway, my point is, I think in this day and age having something to do with Disney Channel would be extremely advantageous for the park. I’m not really sure what that would look like, but perhaps a section dedicated to that and some sort of ride or show or “set” you could go on and it could be highly interactive with pre-teens, young teens and even kids. Can’t wait to hear more! The only thing about Florida I miss besides my friends (and occasionally the beach) is Disney. I still cry when commercials come on… yes it’s that bad… :/ lol
