Saw this gif in the CaptainSwan thread (They’ve interpreted it differently)Ignore the Emma Neal bit of gif

Again it highlights the difference between Neal and Hook. Neal never tries to “make” Emma do anything she doesn’t want to do whereas we know Hook does. Hook says to Emma in Dark Hollow that he “will win” her heart, implying that Emma has no say in the matter, whereas Neal gives her the choice to turn up at Granny’s diner for lunch with him with the assurance that if she doesn’t want to, he’ll “quit bugging” her.

In 311, Hook doesn’t say “I’ll try and help you to remember” or “I know how I can help you remember” before kissing Emma, he says “I can make you remember” then kisses her. That can be interpreted as quite an aggressive and threatening turn of phrase, no wonder Emma kneed him in the balls. Imagine it from Emma’s point of view. She lives alone with her child in her apartment, she’s in her pyjamas. A strange man turns up at her door and knows her name, even though she doesn’t know his. He tells her he “can make” her remember him then he lunges at her and kisses her. That sounds almost attempted rapeish. Granted they would never show that on Once but it’s not the first time that Hook’s dialogue and actions have had rapeish connotations.
