KeymasterThe head of ABC said at #TCA14 today that it was a mistake to run ONCEWL during the regular season. It should have been a winter show, in between the two halves of ONCE.
Glad to see ABC owns up to it.

ParticipantI was wondering about that too. It would have been a great filler in between the hiatus. I’m glad it was addressed.

ParticipantI think some fans banked it on DVRs for now–I planned to do that but …couldn’t wait 😛

Glad it was addressed but more that he took full responsibility. Having a 13 episode WL show would have been a great distraction right now.

ParticipantSORRY but I think ABC is diluting the franchise …. I watched ONCE-WL and did not like it at all… do not like the story or the characters …not fond of the actors either…. I stopped watching by the fourth episode … do not plan to get the DVDs

ParticipantYeah it’s good to see him taking responsibility for screwing it up. Sometimes you’ve gotta wonder how these people even get their jobs when they get something this obvious and basic so wrong. They should have just committed to a 13 ep season from the beginning, started airing it during the hiatus when Oncers are in desperate need of a fix, and have the last couple of eps airing in the first couple of weeks the parent show is back from hiatus. They could have hyped both as, “The thrilling finale to OUAT in WL, and the Wicked new villain threatening SB on OUAT,” and had people extra excited about the franchise as a whole.

ParticipantThe good thing is that they haven’t made a decision on whether or not it’ll be axed yet so hopefully they’ll take this into account and decide to renew it for a second season over the next winter break.

I wouldn’t be banking on that in all honesty. Once we finally stopped the drop and found our “floor” it was .9
That’s spectacularly bad. And while ABC has owned up to it, I don’t think they want to risk loosing more money on a show that people haven’t been watching because of their own mistakes.
And besides, right now it’s a self contained story–they wrote a clear end, apparently. I will be ok if it doesn’t get a S2 because at least it wrapped up properly.

ModeratorGiven the ratings, even with the ratings taken into account, a 2nd Season is unlikely. Wonderland getting a 2nd Season would depend on it needing enough support, which it really doesn’t have. Like RG said, Wonderland was written as a standalone plot for this Season, so everything involved with this storyline will be wrapped up. A hypothetical Season 2 would be a new story with the same cast.

ParticipantI wonder, given the benefit of hindsight, if they might agree to a scaled down S2, which they would air in the OUAT hiatus next year, (assuming they stick with the same 11/11 schedule)? By scaled down I mean, like an actual mini-series, not even the 13 eps that WL ended up getting, maybe only half that. It wouldn’t cost as much to make and would provide mid-season filler, and possibly boost DVD sales of S1 if people who didn’t watch it before decide to check out S2.
