By now “Once Upon a Time” fans know that the Wicked Witch will be the newest villain in Storybrooke, but why has she come and what is her issue with the Evil Queen? On Feb. 2, Spoilers Guide revealed some information about the Wicked Witch as well as why Rose McGowan will be playing a young Cora, despite the character dying back in season 2.

Viewers will find out the Wicked Witch’s backstory on episode 16, titled “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” Co-creator Adam Horowitz said,

“She’s got a whole backstory and mythology. We used the original [L. Frank Baum] book as a jumping-off point, and then spun her in a hopefully unique, Once Upon a Time way.”

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until the second to last episode in season 3 to discover the backstory and what her issue with the Evil Queen is. Some viewers are speculating that it may have to do with Robin Hood. It wouldn’t be the first time that two women fought over a man, but of course this is just a theory.

It was recently revealed that Rose McGowan will be returning to play young Cora. This is a bit confusing because Cora died in season 2, but she is needed to tell the backstory of the Wicked Witch.

“Once Upon a Time” season 3 will return to ABC on March 9.

This article confuses me since in one sentence it says we’ll see the WWW’s backstory in 3×16 but in another sentence claims we’ll have to wait until 3×21 to find out the backstory between Regina and WWW. Maybe the WWW has two backstories? Not sure.

It’s from the Examiner so I suspect they are mostly speculating without having actually talked to A and E. They just read TVLine and TVGuide and then change it slightly to avoid flat out plagiarism. They are also the ones who said something about Henry having destroyed SB or something.

Pretty sure 3×16 is part one of WWW’s backstory, 3×17 is the Cora/Eva aspect of the WWW’s story, and most likely 321 or 322 will have other bits of WWW’s backstory.
