When we last saw Once Upon A Time, there were moments that felt very much like the final episode of a series. Of course, that was not the end; in fact, the show returns tonight (March 9) and sets the characters in new directions.
KSiteTV’s Craig Byrne spoke with showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis about the series’ return at the ABC portion of television critics’ press tour which was held in January. The interview is presented in a Q&A format, with questions in bold. Enjoy:

KSITETV: The last episode we saw felt a whole lot like a series finale. How do you intend to get people to come back in March, and should we expect it to feel like a whole new show once it’s back?

ADAM HOROWITZ: I wouldn’t say a whole new series. We’re hoping that the episode will intrigue people enough that they’ll want to see what’s next to these characters.

EDWARD KITSIS: For me, there was a lot of it that felt like a series finale; in a lot of ways, maybe it was the end of a chapter on the show, but in the same respect, you saw Hook come to New York and tell Emma she was needed again. So, hopefully they will come back to see what Emma’s new mission is, and they will come back because they want to meet the Wicked Witch
What can you tease about what happens next with Hook and Emma?

KITSIS: Well, we do know that he’s got the hots for her. We’ll just see if he can break that wall down. She’s a tough one to get.

HOROWITZ: Emma’s a tough cookie. I’d say, to try to romance Emma, you’d need a hook of steel.

When the show began, Henry was the one who seemed to always know or at least suspect what’s going on. Now, he doesn’t. Can you talk about that change?

KITSIS: He was the one who believed. He’s the heart and soul of the show. We know that they were given new memories. The premiere is going to deal with all that.

HOROWITZ: Maybe he’s trying to be his own age.
What can we expect to see in the Fairy Tale world when the show returns?

HOROWITZ: That’s a great question. What we can tell you is that the characters all returned with their memories intact of everything that happened in Storybrooke as well as their fairy tale selves, and they have to deal with a new situation there that is unlike anything we’ve shown on the show before.

What can you tell us about the Wicked Witch (Rebecca Mader)?

KITSIS: She’s very wicked. The second half [of the season] is Wicked vs. Evil.

And there you have it! Once Upon A Time returns tonight (March 9) at 8PM ET on ABC… come join the countdown on our forum for the show, and if you missed the preview images that were released to promote the episode, you can find them below. Enjoy:
