So, it looks like Rapunzel cuts off her hair using a sword (Charming’s perhaps) in order to evade the hooded figure. Will she successfully escape him? Is her hair cursed to grow back instantaneously?
Interesting that they spoil the cutting of the hair.
I’m guessing the hooded figure is her father, keeping her locked in a tower “for her own good” as it were. And once she’s cut the hair, she’s free to go. But some big twist will happen, like, she was the monster all along and her father really was trying to protect her.

Either the hair is what was keeping her enslaved or keeping her from transforming into a horrible monster. Time will tell which way it goes.

I agree that the hooded figure likely is Rapunzel’s father.
But some big twist will happen, like, she was the monster all along and her father really was trying to protect her.
That would be a twist on the original tale for sure!

We were discussing this last night in chat but what if the “missing ingredient” from Regina’s memory potion in 313 was Rapunzel’s hair?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"At the moment, I’m thinking that Rapunzel’s hair is just a symbol of how long she’s been trapped in the tower, (dunno that it has any magical properties). Cutting it off and defeating the hooded figure in the process, I think will be symbolic of her overcoming her demons that have kept her trapped. And when I say “demons”, I’m thinking like her personal fears about the world, which has kept her holed up in there away from it all, and the hooded figure is a manifestation of that, as opposed to an actual independent demonic entity.
^ Wow – so it looks like the hooded figure is wearing high heels and therefore might be a woman! Maybe it’s Zelena after all.
Also, I’m happy to see Henry has his storybook back! I bet he found it in the library.
