Lumiere Oz Stories Connection?

Just found this interesting tidbit posted on the Once wiki page for Lumiere:

In Eric Shanower’s “The Ice King of Oz” graphic novel there is a character named Flicker who was transformed into a candle by the Wicked Witch of the West. He was awoken when he was lit by Princess Ozma’s maid, Jellia Jamb. He remained a sentient, anthropomorphic candle since the witch’s spell was too powerful to be broken.

Definitely sounds like the writers knew about this and combined Flicker and Lumiere as one character.
