I get that people need to mourn, but I’m not going to view this as all gloomy and depressing for the rest of the series. Life’s too short.

I have remained pretty quiet as of late–which is not like me. But it’s how I want to handle my grief. But I just want to address this point. You are well within your rights to not want to be gloomy and depressing for the rest of the series. That is you personal subjective viewpoint. But the people who are upset by this are also well within their right be so. If they see this as the death of the show, as the end of something they love and held dear, that is THEIR personal subjective viewpoint. And they should be welcome to it, just as you are yours. For the most part (I will not say altogether because I know it is not true) the gloom has been isolated to one thread–the SF thread. The shipping thread rule still stands: if you go into a shipping thread, be prepared not to like what you see. But what they are posting is just how they feel. And no amount of rationalization posts or attempts at getting them to see a different viewpoint, is going to change that. In fact, it’s making them more angry. I’m sure the anger will quiet down but it must play out. People must be allowed to say how they feel right now. And if they are keeping it isolated to one thread (for the most part) then I don’t see why it’s a big deal.

Agree with all of this ^^^
