Rumplesgirl, my hope is rising (although I am hesitant) for a happy ending for Baelfire and Emma. When I saw Wonderland last night and I heard how it wasn’t Anastasia’s time to die it reminded me of the movie Heaven Can Wait, where the guy dies before his time and is put back in the body of someone else, then he is moved to another body (football player) where he loses his memory of the woman he loves. Before he is moved to the body of the football player he says goodbye to the one he loves and tells her that if she meets another man and sees a certain look in his eyes for her to give him a chance. At the end of the movie she thinks he is dead and meets the quarterback who asks her out for coffee. The lights go out and he tells her not to be afraid, she realizes that something feels familiar and goes out with him to get coffee. I was reminded of the same scene when Baelfire died. He tells Emma to find Tallahassee even if it is with someone else, that he would be watching over her from somewhere and to be happy.
I’ve also seen a lot of visual clues to the movie, the well where Cinderella’s husband disappears, Maleficent looks like Diane Cannon in the movie, and then there have been all the cloud promo pictures. In the original movie, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, the guy is a boxer. I remember watching the Wicked is Coming promo and wondering why Neal had on a knit cap like Rocky (a boxer). In the 70’s movie the guy is a football player who plays a clarinet. Baelfire is kicking around a football (soccer type ball) and then in The Return, Rumple sets the ball up on a shelf near a clarinet.
Maybe I am grasping for straws but I am starting to have hope that Baelfire will be returning. If he returns in a different body like the movie Heaven Can Wait, it would set up a new love story awakening between Baelfire and Emma and it would also fit the description given by Kitsis and Horowitz where they said a character dies for real at which point his or her portrayer will leave the show. Knowing them they could mesh a Heaven Can Wait type story with a Superhero Human Torch type story. In the original TVLine interview where the writers announced the death of a character the exact wording of the article is, “tell TVLine exclusively that the “fantastical” series…” Probably just coincidence but could be another subtle nod to the Fantastic Four.
Comic book characters got me to thinking. It would be really funny if Zelena ended up being She Hulk. That would make me laugh. I don’t think she is but I was just imagining a fight between Zelena and Red…She Hulk vs Wolferine. lol
I don’t think Baelfire is gone for good. I am starting to have a lot more hope.
Thanks so much for the cocoa and cookies. Let’s all circle around the bonfire…the balefire and raise a toast to Bae.
