The father is basically Tamara 2.0. She was never given any sort of explanation as to why she hated magic so much. She just *did*. But yes in a land like Oz, his distaste for magic is odd.
This show has an amazing premise (AMAZING PREMISE!!!!!!!!!!). It has so much material it can draw from and use as inspiration, or to outright incorporate, that it could potentially go on for 10+ extra seasons and still be fresh. The only thing letting the show down at the moment is shoddy writing. The inclusion of poorly conceived, shallowly scripted characters like Tamara, Malcolm, and last episode’s Oz characters will ultimately drive the casual viewer away, thus dropping the ratings down so low that it won’t be recommissioned past next season. Such a shame, this really could be the best fantasy show ever produced, if written by good writers.
