As heartbreaking as everything is right now, it gives me even more faith and it’s actually kind of beautiful. He was cursed because he tried to get redemption the wrong way – by asking for it, aka: words. It backfired because of Zelena but she basically said “you tried to take the easy way out by asking for it” and this show is definitely NOT about the easy way being the way right to do things.

It almost always backfires. His actions will win out eventually and there was a ton of character growth in him chasing her down to give the heartfelt apology that he had basically gotten out of doing before that. Nobody else remembers the missing year and once again, he’s put in a position where he could have gotten away with something bad happening that nobody would connect him to, and he chose to tell “her” – stupid Zelena.

But yeah as painful as this is right now, saying you regret it and asking for forgiveness does nothing to undo any of the pain caused by it. Happy endings must be earned and while it was a step in the right direction, it’s costing him even more and will force him to earn it. After all, True Love must be fought for & Happy Endings must be earned!

The villains we know and love are slowly being redeemed but it’s never an overnight process. That’s always been a criticism – that characters appear to be redeemed too quickly but it’s always 2 steps forward, 1 step back. They slip. They make mistakes. Regina and Rumple have done some truly awful things in present day, even after they have someone in their corner who is practically begging them to do the right thing all the time (Regina slipped even with Henry in her life, Rumple slipped in spite of Belle and Neal, etc etc).

I had to laugh – I actually loved the dice scene. Not a fan of cheating at anything and it’s not that I want Henry to do anything “bad” but look at his family tree. Loaded dice are NOT the end of the world when both his birth parents were thieves, his adoptive mother was the Evil Queen, his grandmother was a bandit, his grandfather on the other side is the Dark One. Killian playing dice games for french fries and laughing and having fun? Yeah I think I’ll take that over sending him out into the woods/streets and thieving to stay alive like Neal and Emma both did, as well as Snow.

The kid’s finding a way to be happy and is surrounded by loved ones. Plus he’s the truest believer aka THE biggest proponent of good overcoming evil. So loaded dice and borrowing a boat? With his family that’s not exactly the worst possible thing to do. His parents wouldn’t have even met if his mother hadn’t been stealing a car…that his father already stole so….at least they brought the boat back and Killian was honest with him about the dice? I mean really, given how screwed up the rest of the tree is I don’t see how that’s even an issue. (Plus they’re super adorable together and Henry needs someone right now and everyone else is too afraid of betraying the secret whereas Killian needs him as much as the other way around. The kid’s having fun and it’s WAY safer than letting him drive. *shakes Charming* Seriously, go back to practicing with wooden swords or something, don’t let him drive!)
