Many people said that the hospital scene made it seem like Hook knew that Neal was a dead man. I haven’t personally bought into that 100% because if Hook knew that Neal was a dead man, knew information that could potentially help them prevent that happening, and he didn’t say anything and just let him die…that would be the lowest, and I might prefer Hook piratey, but I don’t want to see him stoop that low in regards to Neal. Though on the flipside, his comment about Neal being a villain would be easier to swallow if he said it because he knew that Rumple was in that body as well.
Even if it turns out he didn’t know about Rumple and Neal, but did know about Zelena’s identity, keeping that information to himself contributed in a way to Neal’s death, because the only reason Rumple and Neal got separated was so Rumple could tell them Zelena’s name. If Hook knew her name, and had told them, then it wouldn’t be as urgent for Rumple and Neal to be split, and they could have perhaps found a safer way to separate them that allowed Neal to live.
Maybe Hook didn’t have awareness of those things, but if he did, then I bloody well hope he’s held accountable in a significant way. And if he did cast the Curse, magic comes with a price, and that was some major magic, so he’s still got a price to pay even if he cast the Curse without actual knowledge of Zelena or any of that.
I don’t think Hook knew that Neal was a dead man (cause yeah, low). But I do think he knew more than he was letting on and I think that comes with having some sort of dealing with Zelena in the past. Either he ran into her and learned what she was up to or she sought him out.
Had a dream last night where all the characters (including Neal, back from the dead) were in this bizarre EF AU and Neal was the only one who remembered what had really happened. And even though he remembered DYING, he was trying to get Hook (of all people) to help get them back to the real SB because “this isn’t the real Emma; she wouldn’t be happy like this.”
