Okay and something I was thinking about. Emma didn’t lose it with Killian because of anything HE did. She lost it with him because he has become her SAFE PERSON and for her perspective she just became completely expendable. She lost it with him because she DOES trust him, she trusts that he will always be there.
So she had to accept that she was brought out of her perfect little NYC dream with Henry back into her SB Savior nightmare to save everyone again. She had to embrace her magic. And everything was going along just fine. Then in this episode Henry finally comfronts her like a REAL preteen boy and she snaps at him. They go to get the storybook and lo and behold SHE looks in the drawer and and it’s not there but 10 seconds later BOOM Snow finds it – Savior not needed. Then they get to the docks and find Henry. Emma hands Henry the book and he immediately gets his memory back, the book was his talisman – Savior not needed. Yay!! Henry is reunited with his OTHER mom who immediately tells him she loves him, kisses him and THE CURSE IS BROKEN – to which Emma says “It wasn’t me, it was YOU!” – Savior not needed. Then we have Henry meet, um, his new stepdad – Robin Hood “Awesome!” and Emma watches the new happy little family stroll away arms wrapped around each other, after having been his ONLY mom for a year. Not to mention that Emma has discovered that her OWN parents, the people who sent her AWAY the first time the curse was enacted, were the people who cast the darn curse THIS time which REQUIRED them to pull her OUT of her happy life to defeat the WW so that her SIBLING could be protected. So then we have poor Killy, who did the RIGHT thing by protecting HENRY when he was trying to run away. There is a psychological theory that we lash out at the people we love the most because they are our safe people – the people that we know won’t leave us and will forgive us for our misbehaviors so they unfortunately see our bad side. I think this is what happened with Emma in this episode. Emma is completely confused. She was told she was NEEDED to defeat the WW because she is the Savior and the Savior always save the say but that day she was needed for absolutely NOTHING. Then she finds out that after her son got mad at her and took off, it was Killian who ended up protecting him. In 3B Emma has been all about saying she is going back to NYC because that is what is best for Henry and she needs to protect Henry, blah, blah, blah. Well suddenly Killian was the one who had made the choice of how to ACTUALLY protect Henry when he REALLY needed protecting, and suddenly going back to NYC is no longer an option because Henry has two moms again. Emma isn’t feeling very special as either a mother OR the Savior right now, whereas ten minutes ago she was feeling on top of the world as BOTH. The easiest thing for her to do is do revert and blame those feelings on what she is used to – not being able to trust people, and whether she recognizes it or not, Killian has become her safe person so HE is the person she is going to lash out to and take it all out on.
The good news here is that since Emma so far HASN’T been needed for anything as the Savior, they appear to be setting everything up for her to really ONLY be needed to break one very important curse – Killian’s kissing curse. And it will be quite an epiphany for her if she has been hurt that she hasn’t been needed for anything yet but still chooses to risk losing her magic and risk defeating the WW in order to kiss Killian in order to save him since it looks like he is hurt in the promo. One thing I also thought of is that the WW stole the needle that Regina put the sleeping curse on. I wonder if somehow Killy gets poked with the sleeping curse. I have seen people saying that A and E said there wouldn’t be another sleeping curse, but I thought I read or heard them say somewhere that there WOULD be another sleeping curse but that it wouldn’t be who you think it would be.
