Very nice KJ.

Saw this on tumblr and it got me thinking

Belle looks so insecure, vulnerable and worried. She is terrified that Rumple might of murdered Zelena. But also, that he didn’t give/trust her enough for the dagger-aswell as making a ‘fool’ out of her. In their first scene, she comes in with the fake dagger-unsure and afraid of holding ‘this much power.’

Rumple looks terrified of the consequences of his actions. He gives a slight smile when Belle looks at him-in a sort of reassuring way.but looks away nervously and avoids eye contact. Rumple isn’t confident about his plans and his keeping secrets from Belle. You can literally see the worry for the very real possibility that he may lose her forever.

It makes so much sense and explains why Rumple was so insistent on Belle keeping the “dagger”. He knows that he has screwed up big time by lying to Belle. The dagger was a symbol of his trust in her, and he had used her trust in him to get what he wanted which was revenge against Zelena.

However Rumple is in trouble now. He was a bit tunnel vision on his revenge, saying and doing what he needed to in order to keep Belle off his case so that he could kill Zelena, however now that he achieved his revenge, he is now having to tell more and more lies to Belle in order to cover up the original lie. He insisted she keep the fake dagger, even though it would be logical to hide the dagger, because he is trying to prove that he trust her, he’s over compensating.

Rumple doesn’t like lying to Belle, he doesn’t want to lie to her, but he feels like he has to because he’s worried that if she finds out about the original lie, he’ll lose her. However by lying to cover up the original lie, he’s only digging a deeper hole for himself.
