Update on Daniel's tooth

Thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers. I had my tooth removed this morning and now I feel great!

To fill you in, I had a root canal on a tooth about two years ago. On Monday morning, the tooth started hurting. I visited my dentist on Tuesday and he recommended I take it easy and give it time.

On Wednesday, the pain was so intense it would make me sob. Podcast episode 153 was recorded while I was still in pain at 8 or 9 out of 10. The dentist had then prescribed some antibiotics and made an appointment with a specialist for next week!

The pain was unbearable. I was getting very little sleep, and it was stressing Jenny, too. We knew I couldn’t reasonably make it until next week to have the problem fixed. It also looked like it would cost about $1,200 to fix the problem.

This morning, my dentist pulled the tooth and it ended up being the right choice. The tooth was actually cracked under the crown; it would’ve needed to be pulled anyway. Getting a bridge will cost another $1,800, but I can wait on that and it will also save the surround two teeth that have cavities.

Aside from the drowsiness of the medication (which helped my sleep better in a nap than I’ve slept all week), I feel great!
