Charming’s story about his father just seemed a bit off in general especially the part about how his parents fought all the time. I was under the impression in The Shepherd that Charming’s parents had a happy marriage and it was the secret of giving up James that drove the father to an early grave, not that he was an alcoholic.
Well, losing James might have been the cause of their father’s alcoholism.
True but the shepherd seem to imply that Ruth and Charming’s father had a reasonably happy marriage until his death.
