So now Hook has been foiled into becoming Rumple’s errand boy for “as long as he lives”, and both are blackmailing each other with their secrets. Rumple doesn’t want Belle to know that he gave her a fake dagger, nor does he want people to know what he did to the Apprentice. Hook doesn’t want Emma to know that he blackmailed Hook, nor that he helped Rumple confront the Apprentice. Not only that, but Rumple still has the secret that he killed Zelena, and Hook has his secret of mugging Will Scarlet in front of the library. As of yet those are secrets the other party doesn’t know of, but are very likely to be added to the mix down the line. We all know all of this will backfire on both Rumple and Hook, but the question is how do you picture things going down and what do you expect the consequences to be?
Starting off with Rumple, I think using the video tape magic in front of Hook is going to be key to everyone else eventually discovering that he killed Zelena. What if Hook puts two and two together and assumes he killed Zelena and he hid his murder the same way? Then all Hook would have to do is find the tape in the sheriff’s office and see if Emma can undo Rumple’s magic on it. The reveal would also confirm to everyone else that Rumple gave Belle a fake dagger.
As for Hook, my guess is Rumple will spill the beans on him if say the following happened, and/or Will Scarlet starts talking. Henry working at Rumple’s shop as his apprentice could also factor into things, as Henry might discover something in his shop or eavesdrop on a private conversation between Rumple and Hook. Henry is also someone that Rumple and Hook share caring for, so it wouldn’t be unlikely if he gets dragged into the middle of this.
Regarding what will happen once this all blows up in their faces, obviously there will be plenty of angst, but I of course expect it to be temporary.
Feel free to share your own thoughts and theories on this topic.

I think Hook already put two and two together, because it is obvious if rumple has the dagger then he would have gone after Zelena. Besides he knows he can change video tapes, so it won’t take that long to figure out he killed her.
October 20, 2014 at 7:04 pm #286492RumplesGirlKeymasterI don’t mind the idea of Rumple and Hook being antagonistic again but the level of “dark” it got last night was quite intense. It was basically “if you hurt my love, I’ll hurt yours” from both parties and that’s troubling.
From Hook, this would be more than twice now that he’s gone after Belle in his war against Rumple. He’s beaten her, chased her, and shot her. Now he’s threatening to (metaphorically) crush her heart.
From Rumple, I’m pretty appalled that he would threaten Emma, Neal’s love, and the mother of his grandson. She’s family, something Emma said back in “The Miller’s Daughter” even though she and Rumple don’t see eye to eye often.
I think both of them are acting like idiots, to be frank. Though, props to Bobby and Colin, that scene was well played and acted.
A lot of this is feels like “obvious set up for secret spillings.” I think those secrets are going to come out at the worse possible time and I think Rumple and Hook will end up causing their own misery in regards to their loved ones. Rumple will do something that really irks Hook and the pirate will spill to Belle and when Rumple finds out, he’ll send the video tape to Emma (we haven’t seen the last of that thing). Even after Hook tries to explain, Emma doesn’t want to hear it because she trusted him and now she feels hurt by yet another person.
And all of this will be around the end of the season…say 10 or 11.

I get Rumple’s logic in this scene. Hook has threatened to hurt his love, so rumple is threatening to hurt Hook’s love. Rumple doesn’t have anything against Emma but he has to threaten back with something of equal value otherwise Hook would’ve still been in a position of advantage. I think that’s what Rumple was doing this episode, he was levelling the board.
As for the whole “she’s family”, family doesn’t actually guarantee an alliance. After all, Pan and Rumple were “family” but look how that turned out. Aside from Belle, Henry is probably the next person in the safest position since he’s Baelfire’s son although ASOTM proved that even that wasn’t enough if Rumple thought Henry was against him although it could be argued if Rumple had really wanted Henry dead that rope would’ve snapped and Henry would be dead. However, once Rumple finds out that Henry was playing him in order to spy for Regina, I could definitely see him throwing Henry out of the shop. The Henry/Regina book plot is so full of crap.
All magic comes with a price!

Pan was also trying to kill everyone/turn them into his slaves. Emma hasn’t actually done anything in this situation, and neither has Belle.

He didn’t have the hat to protect anymore. Or did Rumple just magically set one up to set up Hook? The video tape wasn’t played so Rumple could just be bluffing. The video could be blank, plus without Rumple on it, wouldn’t it look funny for Hook to be holding a man down & just letting him go for no reason. Hook needs to tell Emma what happened and get Rumple to play that tape.
