I’m curious, what did you all think of how self-love was portrayed in this episode? I know for the longest time, this was one type of love that had rarely been addressed so specifically in an episode. Once sort of touched on with it Red being the wolf storyline, but never to this degree.

I think the Elsa/Emma moment was one of my favorites of this episode. I like that it’s Emma’s choosing to love herself as opposed to someone (anyone) saving her and loving her. It’s a nice message that you have to accept yourself.

I think it’s a good thing to show acceptance of oneself as being important to a healthy self-identity. Like anything, one’s sense of self can become distorted going to the extremes of self-loathing or on the opposite extreme of narcissism. So Emma learning to accept herself as having magic is a good thing provided it doesn’t go so far as reveling in her own awesomeness too much (as I think Ingrid is prone to do).
