people saying Neal was a selfish person that only cared about him, so this person made this post, is amazing: http://katiehcastle.tumblr.com/tagged/but-him-being-selfish-was-not-one-of-those-faults
The only thing I can say about people who think Neal is selfish is that they surely do not understand or care to understand him and all the things that he went through in his life. The only thing that I can say about him letting Emma go is that there might have been some fear involved as well (though some might call it cowardice). He was afraid of his father and his father finding him but later he also admits that it was his greatest mistake. No one said that Neal was perfect, in fact he has made several mistakes but tell me who in the show hasn’t made any mistakes. Everyone has done things that they regret on this show but they have been forgiven or their past just forgotten <del>(for PLOT)</del>. I don’t understand if everyone else can get forgiven or their past forgotten, why can’t Neal? What makes him so horrible that he can’t be forgiven the few mistakes he has made in his life? He hasn’t killed anyone. He hasn’t raped anyone. He didn’t leave people for dead. He didn’t pillage and ransack. Yes he did abandon Emma and yes he didn’t go after her as soon as the curse was broken, but if those are his biggest mistakes, I don’t understand why that makes him the worse person on the show compared to everyone else. I honestly just don’t understand some people’s willingness to overlook other characters’ “mistakes” but not Neal’s. Maybe they just hit too close to home. Maybe his faults/mistakes are too real.
