From Rumple’s perspective, Hook’s done a LOT of damage to him…between taking away Bae’s mother & his first wife (yes, she probably would have left anyway, but Rumple doesn’t always lay blame where it belongs), taking Belle’s memories and nearly killing him, and then helping Pan’s minions so they could kidnap Henry resulting in Rumple’s death and everything that followed…

Hook helped kill Rumple’s second dream, a simple life with his wife and son. (First one was just being with his dad; Pan did that one in.) And then he took away from the precious little time he had with Belle & Neal when he actually found them. No matter how woobified the pirate is, he hurt Rumple in some of the deepest places…it’s no wonder he thinks he should have crushed Hook’s heart when he had the chance a couple hundred (150 by my reckoning) years ago.

When you put it like that, you are absolutely right. Also, When Hook stole the shawl, which he acknowledged was Rumple’s only way to find Baelfire, he planned to destroy it. It was only the fact that Milah made it which stopped him. Hook has no hesitation about hitting Rumple where it hurts.
