Wondering if anyone else from this forum is watching the new show: The Librarians. I very much enjoy it. They fill a bit the gap Warehouse 13 left. One can sum up their task as to see that magic does no harm and keep it out of the hand of bad guys and unexperiened amateurs, but the show has its own take on it. The right kind of geeky/nerdy fun for mythology buffs with a challenge of the week but still an ongoing story as connection.
Show is based on the TV movie triology The Librarian with Noah Wyle as Librarian saving the world from magic and bad guys. Already had some nice time with the movies, and the show is as enjoyable, think maybe even more. Noah Wyle (ER, Falling Skies, picked his role up as Flynn Carsen, but the center of the show are 4 other character, the three LITs (aka Librarians in Training, played by Angel and Leverage alumni Christina Kane, Lindy Booth and John Kim) and the Guardian (Rebbeca Romijn, best known for playing blue and very changeable Mystique before a certain young star took over, but I liked her best so far in Eastwick as one of the witches). And then there is grumpy Giles, uhm Jenkins, aka John Larroquette. And on the side of the badies there is Mat Frewer. Not to mention they got guest stars like Bruce Campbell (best ever Santa I’ve seen for years), Tricia Helfer, René Auberjonois, Alcia Witt (gosh, I am old, remember her as Alia Atreides in the movie Dune) and Jonathan Frakes directing!
They’ve given it a bit of thought how the magic works in their fictional world (imagine that! using ley lines cracked me up, might anger some New Age occultists though), the characters are a bit archetype but still not all typical (I like them all), there is a lot of great humour, the episodes stories are interesting on their own while one can speculate about a possible overarcing big story behind some characters. The show is family friendly and easy going, still the characters already have some depth in short time.
The first season has only 10 episodes (and they make good use of that). The bad news: final will already air this Sunday. The good news: You can get the episodes online via itunes (and they have extended version there, especially the first two are a bit longer). Already hope this show will get a second season (and more).
I would highly recommend this show even if there were no OUaT break.
By the way, they play around with Arthurian legends.
Not to mention there is this great line in an episode playing in a town called Bremen (in the U.S, not the German city – but anyone knowing more than just the Disney fairy tale stories might get big ears now):

Or go to writer John Rogers blog, where he talks about the episodes, writing, and offers to ask questions. http://kfmonkey.blogspot.de/
So anyone else watching? How do you like it? Any fave character?

It’s so campy and fun, but there are a lot of great character moments to.
Fav Character: Jenkins (*cough Galahad *cough*). But I also really like Cassie

January 18, 2015 at 10:33 am #294782Ranisha PittsParticipantRainbow and I are in love with this show. There was a recent article said that this show is designed for the whole family something a lot of shows are missing these days. I concur.
I watch this show with my younger siblings and we love it so much. This show is so much fun, light, and magical. I can say they put the fun back in Sunday.
I love all the characters but for me Cassandra and Stone are standing out to me.
Hey RG tonight is the finale and we find out who Jenkins is.
This season went by so fast.
I guess it would have a doctor who format with very short seasons. Hopefully like Doctor Who they will give us some specials or webisodes

January 18, 2015 at 11:33 am #294785JosephineParticipantThere is a marathon of it today on TNT. Missed the first and part of the second episode but currently watching the third. One good thing about TNT is they run their shows over and over so if you miss it then you can catch it again.
I’m surprised they haven’t reaired all the Librarian movies they’ve made in the lead up to the new series. Or maybe they did and I missed them. Those were quite good.
As for short seasons, it seems more and more shows are going that way. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I always thought I’d hate them but storytelling seems tighter because they actually have to tell a more concise story.

Yeah, i love this show, u actually laugh so much, and sometimes even get moments were you are like “What just happened?”.
Have to say, the fairytale episode, was so funny, Cassie being prince charming and Eve being the princess that needs to be rescued and making eyes to cassie just bc she was becoming prince charming was hilarious.
Really hope they actually have a S2.
@Josephine, they actually aired the 3 movies the afternoon the show started in December and then on the next day i think and on the other weekend whne they aired the epi 3.Lets see if William Shatner live tweet today, on the 4th of January, he live tweeted the epi, and yesterday was actually tweeting one of the actors.
