Chernabog! Several people have wanted him for a long time and now we got him. What did you think of him? Do you think he’s “gone” for good? Why was he guarding the Dark Curse? Is he working for the Author of the Sorcerer? And…why was he wearing a belt?
No way Chernabog’s gone for good…he’s too powerful to be wiped out so easily. I expect a return by the season finale.

That was just a whisper of Chernabog. The effects in Storybrooke did not match those in Misthaven.
Question is, how did Chernabog get in the hat? I have an idea. I suspect it was the Sorcerer who created the Dark Curse, and had Chernabog guard it. However, when Chernabog failed to protect it, he absorbed him into the hat as punishment.

Love it!
No, I do not think we’ve seen the last of Chernabog. Considering the way the chernabog came out of the hat, I think the chernabog was orginally supposed to come out of the urn last season (according to rumors i’ve hear about 2 endings being filmed), but then the Frozen Arc was approved, and it was Elsa who came out of the urn.
If that’s true, i think the Chernabog will be the Black Fairy.
Speaking of fairies, the Blue Fairy was acting pretty shady this episode.
It’d be nice if he wasn’t really gone for good, but honestly it felt to me like they just wanted him for a cameo because FANTASIA ALL THE THINGS, and then they poofed him away when they were done, so I’m not gonna get my hopes up. I guess we might see him again in flashback if they think it’s important to show how he ended up in the Hat.

Yes, I think it was a cameo, too. What a waste.
Keeper of Regina's bravery
Cameo + plus plot device to show that Emma has “the most potential for darkness” or whatever.
And honestly I’m pretty disappointed in the way he was done. I mean knew that they wouldn’t and couldn’t pull off anything even close to what he was in Fantasia, but come on. This Chernabog was just a dumb beast that couldn’t even find the QoD when they ran behind some rocks right in front of him.

Pretty much this. I don’t expect to see him again. However, I am still wondering what that belt was

I don’t think it was that he couldn’t find them…. he just couldnt decide which one had the darkest heart, which they stated right before coming out from behind the rocks. To me it looked like he was deciding between the three rocks.
I think he will be back.
