Based on spoilers and sleuthing it could be deduced that Maleficent’s child maybe Lily.   In the episode “Breaking Glass” Lily mentioned that she was in fact an orphan, and was once in a foster home.  Where?  It doesn’t have to be in Minnesota.

Crackpot Theory – What if the big twist/cliff hanger last scene for Season 4B is a shot of the foster home Emma was as a baby, but next to her crib, is another crib with a baby girl and a nametag that reads – Lily.  It’s then followed with a scene showing a young child putting Emma and Lily back, but in the wrong cribs, or someone inadvertently giving baby Emma’s blanket to baby Lily.  So, it’s basically leaving the audience aware that  Emma is really the daughter of Maleficient, and that Lily is really the daughter of Snow and Charming.

This would help to explain Emma’s blond hair, and her magical abilities, especially if her biological father is –  the Sorcerer.

Interesting theory. However, I think for the writers to pull that trick now is too much of a jump the shark moment. They’ve spent 3.5 seasons establishing Emma as Snowing’s daughter without any hints to the contrary so to suddenly say Emma is really Mal’s daughter instead of Snow’s is too much.

Yeah, I don’t think I could go for that. Anyway, Charming’s got lighter hair. And they’ve played up other physical features like the chins since S1.

That is worthy crack for a theory. 😛  And if the  writers would do it then I would know for sure that they’re trying to sabotage their own show.  But hey, they made Peter Pan Henry’s great grandfather so who knows what they’d pull on us.

I will say, though, that Rumple’s prophesy that he told Snowing was the baby Snow carried in her belly was the one to break the curse.  There would have to be a lot of retconning/chess piece moving to make it happen.

Mike you  are my kind of man! Thats a twist that I would really like to see and it would be believable in the way that you put it. Forget the retconning.. there is already truckloads of that everywhere in the show.

Ive suggested similar changeling story-theories before that hasnt come true though, but WHO knows this might be The One 🙂

I couldn’t see the two being switched (too much physical resemblance, though I guess it could be explained somehow) but, how about their respective fates in “the book”? Perhaps Emma got Mal’s daughter’s fate and visa versa and THAT, rather than the dark curse (which Emma is supposed to have escaped) is why Emma’s past was as troubled as it was?
