The Sorcerer and the Author were once a single being. But the moment the original Dark Curse was cast, they were split into two people: the Sorcerer and the Author. Think of it like soul mates. The original idea of soul mates; one person was once a whole person but something happened and the soul was split up. Sort of like Adam and Eve, Eve was born from Adam.

I think once the Sorcerer and the Author meet though, they’ll merge again and become one whole person. But the curse is what created the Author, sort of like how the book is a totem to help Henry believe in the curse.

    Cool theory!

I had a totally different split person theory a few weeks ago, that’s pretty surely disproved already. But your’s is way more likely! 😎

That does sound like an interesting theory, but if that’s so, why does Blue know about them? And why does she say nobody’s seen them for ages?

Slight change based on what @Keb wrote, but what if instead of when the DC was cast–they split when the DC was CREATED thousands and thousands of years ago

The way I think of it, the Author and the Sorcerer may not be aware of each other’s existence.  Or if they are, it could be like in the movie Hitchcock, where the closer they are to each other, the more they end up hurting each other.  There’s a reason they can’t be together right now.

Or go the Buffy route, where the Author and the Sorcerer share the same body but have no idea about the other, or to conceal that the Author and the Sorcerer are the same person, once the author is revealed, everyone else in the room forgets what just happened.

Or what if they split when the person they were became the first Dark One?

    I like SFG’s take.

It would make sense for the Sorcerer to have the hat (and to have created the hat) if he was the First Dark One, but then why is he so keen to keep others from having that power? And how did he pass it on?

OBISGIRL …. I think you are deeper than the writers of ONCE … they write just on the surface level > more action than thought.
