My headcannon: Ursula, The Ancient Goddess who hasn’t been seen in a thousand years was the one who gave Merpeople the ability to walk on land once a year. This is the Ursula Ariel was referring to and the one the sailors worship. This is also the REAL Ursula that Regina encountered through her mirror. So where does that leave Merrin Ursula? Well I always thought it was odd that Regina is so…mouthy with this Ursula, unafraid. She calls her a B-word, says she couldn’t magick her way out of a paper bag and is just generally dismissive of her power in general. Why? Because at some point in the EF Regina met this Ursula and found out she isn’t the sea goddess she thought she was. This Ursula, Merrin, is nothing more than a glorified witch of the sea. But the other Ursula is an epic powerful goddess.
