I think this episode made history in that it was the first spell cast out loud. All other spells have been enacted by hand movements for the most part. Im referring to the part where Malificent’s baby was banished to another realm.
I mean it’s no Chamred or Buffy spell casting, but at least it was out loud which was nice. When Belle told Regina she was going to have to do a complicated spell to get people out of the hat, that scene was begging for ancient Latin, and all we got was a knife wave over the hat, So good for Once for switching things up.

I don’t think anything was actually transferred from Emma to Lily. Because like the apprentice said, all babies are blank slates anyway. There’s nothing to transfer.
Didn’t Regina cast the dark curse out loud? she kind of said the ingredients as she threw them in the fire? (Also Panlix were way more efficient in casting the dark curse- they got the curse and collected all the ingredients and were ready to cast it in “less than a day”, it took Regina nearly 9 months to cast her curse.)

Keeper of FelixI’m not sure if they’re the same thing. I don’t remember Regina saying a chant or something before enacting the curse, just gathering all the ingredients and casting it.
If she did say something, I think it was probably more for dramatic effect; rather the citing of a curse.

Yeah I think it was a show for the sake of calming down Charming. The Apprentice clearly believed that there is nothing to transfer but then he magicks up some spell because Snow and Charming won’t leave well enough alone.
So the question really becomes, why did the Apprentice want Lily cast out of the EF? Or was it the Author? Did he think that made a better story.

Well I think what he means he they are blank slates in the sense that no baby is born 100% evil or good, but have the potential to go either way. He took away Emma’s potential to be evil and gave it to Lily. So now Emma was a one way road to good.

I don’t think it was a spell, I think Regina was just announcing the ingredients as she added them. Like when my grandmother cooks. “Okay, I need two cups of milk *pours milk* and 2 tsp. of salt *adds salt*”
Also did it take regina nine months to cast the curse? T___T HOLY COW YOU ARE RIGHT!! What the heck was she doing, no way it took nine months to gather hair.

Based on the Apprentice’s confrontation of the Author, he didn’t personally want Lily cast out of the EF. He said “how dare you make me send that child away.” So yeah, all the Author’s doing.

So…who REALLY has the upper hand in this twisted dynamic? The Sorcerer chose the Author but the Author can work his quill on everyone, including the Apprentice. Does that mean The Author could control the Sorcerer? Or no? Could an unchecked Author write out the Sorcerer?

If I didn’t know any better, I would have sworn Regina purposefully waited till the day of Emma’s birth to enact the curse, but she was such an indecisive person back in the Enchanted Forest, she more than likely flip flopped about casting the curse.

It cracked me up when Belle had to communicate with a “professor” on the internet (turned out to be Rumple) to translate the spell that would release the fairies from the magic hat. When the spell was performed, no words were spoken. The dagger was just waived over the hat, as it was before. What was the translation for?
