While Robin has been away in New York and trying to adjust to life in the Big Apple, do you think he has been missing Regina?
SM: Of course, yeah! I mean the way that it’s written, and what I know from where we’ve gone with it, I think Robin has always been in love with Regina, pretty much from when he first met her. I think that when he met Marian, that was his true love and then he lost her and he mourned the loss of her. And then he met Regina, and that was it. Sort of an arrow straight through his heart, and I think he was completely smitten from the moment he met her — and I think he still is. I think despite being with Marian, which he had to do that and it was the honorable thing to do, his heart very much lies with Regina.THIS!!!
AND
THIS!!!!!!
Robin’s honor is very important to him and even though he feels a sense of loyalty to Marian, do you think that his love for Regina has eclipsed his feelings for Marian?
SM: Oh totally. I think before Marian collapsed again, he had said, “I’ve made my decision and my decision is to be with [Regina]. I’ve got to be with the woman I love, and I’ve got to be honest about that because if I can’t be honest, how can I show my son how to be a real man?” And he was ready to say to Marian, “Look, I’m so sorry but we had our time and that time went, and now I’ve fallen in love with someone else.” But because Marian was going to die if he didn’t take her out of Storybrooke — he couldn’t let something bad happen to his former wife, and so he did what was the right thing to do. Not because it’s what he wanted, but because it was the honorable thing to do. And I think as you said, if he had to make a choice between Regina and Marian — it was going to be Regina. He’s moved on and I loved the way they’ve written their relationship. I feel like they’re very much like Romeo and Juliet. Just an extraordinarily strong connection, and even though he had to go to New York to be with Marian, his mind is constantly on Regina and I think she’s all he thinks about really.SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT SEAN!! SET IT!!!! YES!!!!

I don’t agree with this. Robin feeling some sort of connection to Regina I can buy, Robin being in love with Regina from “when he first met her” not so much. Why would he instantly be in love with a woman known as the “evil queen”? developing feelings for Regina over the course of the year I could understand (even though Regina kept rejecting him and insulting him rather than reciprocating his feelings which kind of begs the question why he kept pursuing her despite her being horrible to him) but Robin instantly being in love with Regina is a bit too much to be believable.

If only Robin had clearly made this decision earlier on in 4A instead of running to and fro between the two women.

It always seemed like Robin took Regina at face value. That seems right for a famous thief who hangs around a whole bunch of other thieves. Even in the Enchanted Forest. He obviously knew who she was, but never treated her differently than anyone else…which seemed to really piss her off. LOL
But in this case, I think he means Storybrooke, which is where they were a couple.

I agree too. I don’t think Robin was in love with her when he first met and Regina was definitely not in love with Robin when she first met him. In fact, there’s even an interview where Lana stated that it’s not love at first sight for Regina because she wasn’t in that mindset. I can however buy some kind of attraction on Robin’s part towards Regina, but not love at first sight.
You do see them cross paths, but it’s not love at first sight. That’s partially because Regina just isn’t open to that. She doesn’t see what’s standing right in front of her. But then again, she’s consumed with the loss of her son and her heart is broken. It’s the last thing she needs right now — a relationship. She doesn’t even see it. Robin Hood fancies her — even though she’s this Evil Queen. I think he sees the goodness in her heart, but Regina’s just not ready for that next step.
It also occurred to me, Outlaw Queen had two first meetings; first, in the EF obviously and then again, in Storybrooke. What Sean could mean is that when he met Regina in Storybrooke, he fell in love with her at first sight then.

She continues, “That love, if and when it ever plays out, it’s not going to happen for a little while. You’ll see their relationship slowly build. But it doesn’t start off on a very loving level. There’s a lot of tension between them. I like to think of them as eight-year-olds in third grade, pulling each other’s hair when they someone, or punching a girl in the shoulder on the playground. That’s their relationship at first! It’s not immature, it just hasn’t developed. That story line is going to evolve over time.” – Lana Parrilla
Then there was another Lana Parrilla & Sean Maguire interview that explains that when Regina and Robin meet in the EF, there was a heated attraction with a lot of sexual tension that Robin and Regina didn’t know how to be mature about. Lana said it best “Robin and Regina were like two third graders on a playground, messing with each other because they secretly liked each other.”
Now in the Missing Year…that was more so probably a more instant lustful/crush attraction, hence the sexual tension, but in Storybrooke it developed itself into more of a romantic/true love scenario.
Little little sparks in Enchanted Forest & Fireworks in Storybrooke.

The difference maker being Henry, Regina’s true love.
(Sorry if this is off topic) But I really like that both Regina and Robin are parents and are starting over. That resonates with me.
April 7, 2015 at 5:00 pm #300985obisgirlParticipantAttraction almost always comes first in any kind of relationship anyway, so it makes sense attraction would be there first and then later develop into love.
