So this has been bothering me pretty much the whole season… what was the point making Michael Socha a series regular if they weren’t going to do anything with the character?
They had him searching for something he buried in the first half… but that’s never been addressed again. He had a page ripped out of Alice in Wonderland when he was in jail…but that’s never been addressed again.
He’s really just been part of the background and used as a plot device. I wonder if they are going to get into his story at all in the last 3 episodes…it really seems doubtful. Is this bothering anyone else but me?[adrotate group="5"]April 22, 2015 at 8:55 am #302374RumplesGirlKeymasterOh it bothers all of us I think. I, for one, am irritated like crazy that he’s just useless because I loved him in WL.
My theory is this: they needed to keep Soccha around and not run the risk of him being picked up by another show because S5 is going to be Jafar/Aladdin. When they bring Jafar on, they need someone from the WL show to tell everyone in SB about Jafar and Will was the fan favorite of WL so he was the writers natural choice. They made him a regular to keep him contracted to the show, but had very little to give him because his story isn’t until next year. So they fiddled with him–a few random appearances, totally random ScarlettBeauty–and just have him spinning his wheels until they get to S5.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 22, 2015 at 10:04 am #302380MatthewPaulModeratorI have my own theory for what happened. I think they were planning a bigger arc for Will for the 2nd half of the Season, but they ran into a snag in regards to Emma Rigby’s availability, since Anastasia/Red Queen would likely have to play a large role in it. Emma Rigby was busy filming a movie during the same time 4B was filmed. Therefore, they weren’t able to follow through on that plan, and are now stalling.
In one of the hot seats back in December, Adam and Eddy mentioned how we were going to get “much more Will” in the 2nd half of the Season. In another hot seat they did in October, they said they were “going to try” getting Emma Rigby, when asked if we will see her this Season. From what we’ve been able tell based on spoilers, it doesn’t look like that is happening.

I can’t stand how they’ve been cramming a whole back story into one episode – or in the case of Will… teasing at a backstory, and then ignoring it for the rest of the season. It leaves more questions than it answers. If my kids didn’t like this show so much… I think I would be done by now. Season 1 was so great… it’s been downhill ever since.

100 cookies to @MatthewPaul!! A&E have confirmed the inability to obtain Emma Rigby/Anastasia pushed the storyline to S5
