Lily and the Apprentice have met in our world and he explained everything to Lily.

But why couldn’t the Apprentice get Lily to SB? And how did he get to SB himself for last arc? How much does Lily really know? Can she do magic–did the Author teach her?

I still can’t help but wonder if Lily is to become the next Sorceress or Apprentice. She was marked with a star. It’s almost like she was sought out, or tasked, or fated for greatness by the Apprentice and/or Sorcerer.

This question was raised by @Keb but if the Apprentice has been watching over Lily, then why didn’t he step in like 15 years ago? Raise her himself?

Maybe he wanted Lily to become tough and street smart, like Emma. Who the heck knows? I don’t trust the Apprentice or the Sorcerer anymore than I do the Blue Fairy. Forever shady.

I believe how we deal with our adversities determines our strength of character.  Lily had to go through her’s, just as Emma had to go through her own.

The Apprentice always had the capability of travelling between worlds.  We saw this when he sent Ingrid to our world and again when he sent Lily.  Door, vortexes and who knows what other methods.

I am assuming he also has the capability of seeing ahead.  Obviously it wasn’t Lily’s time to come into the story but he was there watching & preparing her throughout, just as he most likely did with Emma & AWB.

I agree. But did it make Lily a stronger character? Because even though the Apprentice told her that everything would be harder for her and she has a lot to learn, she still wants to go to SB and kill Snow and Charming. So did The Apprentice (gosh, can we get a name for him already so I can stop typing The Apprentice) get to her too late? Is he now to blame for not interceding sooner?

Dear lord yes please, give this guy a name!

Is it possible that he actually made it worse by even intervening at all?  She’s been planning her revenge for some time now, or at the very least has been very fixated on it for years.  I understand that John Doe the Apprentice wanted to remedy the situation somehow.  I just wonder if telling her then about Snow & Charming did more harm than good.

Random man appears on a bus & tells you your origin story at a time in your life when you’re extremely vulnerable.  (Which, if I were Lily, I would be SUPER creeped out by that whole bus scenario.)   Random man knows that he sent the potential darkness into your soul.  Lily definitely has the right to know what happened to her.  Just… idk, did John Doe the Apprentice think this through?  If he had never intervened, or had waited for a time in her life when things were more stable… maybe she wouldn’t be so obsessed with revenge.  Gahh I’m feeling so conflicted and confused after this episode.  I don’t know what to think anymore with this show.

that is a VERY good question. Did the Apprentice cause Lily to become “darker” by telling her about her darkness to being with??

    Word, my friend. Word.

While I think the Apprentice is in the same league of shadiness as the Blue Fairy, I’m not sure that it was his intention to make things worse (but maybe he did, despite his intentions) He said to Lily, “I shouldn’t even be telling you this,” which makes me think he was more concerned with trying to right a wrong by telling her the truth. However, he chose a bad time.

And also, he should’ve offered to help her. Maybe he did, but she rejected it (what with Lily being who she is and making bad choices all the time). If that’s the case, then Lily still made her own decisions.

I still wonder though if the Apprentice has been tasked with seeing that Lily turns into the next Apprentice (he’s looking pretty old). The Sorcerer said Emma and Lily’s fates had been entwined even before the Apprentice drove Emma’s potential for darkness into Lily (something I’m not sure actually happened, seeing how the Chernabog still went after Emma for having the darkness potential).

Why is that? Does the Sorcerer know Lily is special like Emma? What is Lily’s destiny? Was Lily special even before the Author screwed up her life?

I think it’s still too soon to judge a book by its cover. 😉

We know little about Lily and that story is still to come.  She obviously is very strong & determined, so yes, I think all her adversities played a part in that.

As for The Apprentice, perhaps he had to let the past play out between Emma & Lily before he could intervene.

LOST was notorious for its “course corrections” and I think that The Apprentice is merely stepping in, when required, for a course correction.  Had to be done with August, as he left Emma alone, and it had to be done with Lily, so the full story could unfold as it was meant to, prior to Isaac tampering with the book.

Yes, I think both The Sorcerer & The Apprentice are aware that she has powers.
