True, but then they needed someone who looked like they could be related to Maleficent and Agnes does look like she could be related. Perhaps it’s a kind of retroactive “problem”, for lack of a better word, when young Lily was cast the casting department weren’t told about the Mal connection so anybody could be young Lily. With adult Lily, they needed her to look related to Mal?

Maybe. But I’ll just point out that we don’t know who Lily’s dad is. If he were a Latino, then Young Lily being a Latina suddenly makes a lot of sense. Barbara Hershey and Lana Parrilla look nothing alike, but they played mother and daughter on the show. Regina’s dad, Prince Henry, being played by Latino actors (both young and old I might add) really helped to explain the ethnic heritage of Regina. So, I could’ve seen Adult Lily being played by a Latina, in keeping with her younger self, especially if Lily’s dad ended up being played by a Latio (which, he easily could’ve been cast as, seeing how we’ve yet to discover who Lily’s father is).
