When Lily was sitting at the bus stop, the building behind her was called the “Dark Star Pharmacy”.

Have we ever seen this building before? Who owns it? What is the significance?

Because “Dark Star” seems rather connected to Lily, so it surely wasn’t a coincidence that she was sitting in front of it!

Yes we have. It’s been around for a few years, since S1 actually. Not sure if he owns it, but it’s where Sneezy works and where we met Ava and Nicolas (Gretel and Hansel).

    Ooh, thanks!

    …

But, now I wonder why it’s named that. *thinks*

Hmm, if Sneezy just works there, I wonder if it’s owned by The Sorcerer?

Though I have absolutely no idea why The Sorcerer would own a pharmacy, but whatever. 🙄

Nothing is a coincidence on OUAT. I was wondering if Dark Star could have some connection to the Dark Fairy and/or the Sorcerer, whose hat has stars  and a moon on it. When a magical creature gets sucked into the sorcerer’s hat, a new star gets created on the exterior fabric of the hat. Part of me wonders if the title of sorcerer can be passed on like the title of author, and whether Lily could become the next sorceress if she inherits the sorcerer’s hat. Part of me also wonders if the Blue Fairy, whose Gaelic name Ruehl Gorm means Blue Star, has more to do with Lily’s banishment than we previously thought.

In popular culture, there is a song by the Grateful Dead called Dark Star. If I’m not mistaken, A&E are both self-described “deadheads” — what fans of that band call themselves. A&E often make allusions to bands and songs they like. The song lyrics are as follows:

Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes.
Reason tatters, the forces tear loose from the axis.
Searchlight casting for faults in the clouds of delusion.
Shall we go, you and I while we can

Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?
Mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter.
Glass hand dissolving to ice petal flowers revolving.
Lady in velvet recedes in the nights of goodbye.

Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds

Dark Star is also the name of a 1974 sci-fi film which is described as a cosmic comedy. The brief movie synopsis is: “In the far reaches of space, a small crew, 20 years into their solitary mission, find things beginning to go hilariously wrong.” I’m not sure if the pharmacy’s name has anything to do with that movie, but it’s still interesting to note.

There was this interview with A&E from d23 that said this:

D23: You’ve revealed the Sorcerer’s hat—and shown its great power. But we have yet to meet the Sorcerer himself. Will it be Yensid, and will he come to retrieve that which belongs to him?
Adam: It’s something we’ll explore in much greater depth in the second half of the season. And in the premiere there is some iconography from Fantasia that makes an appearance.
Eddy: And hats can be passed on. So we’ll have our own Once twist on it and who it belongs to now.

Other than the obvious “hats can be passed on”,  I think the biggest thing is the last sentence. He says “Who it belongs to now” So I think yes, the title can be passed down to others.

OR: Yen Sid IS the sorcerer and owner of the hat, but SOMEONE has taken it from now and is NOW the new sorcerer. So yeah.
