Now the series has inked deals for more recurring guest roles that will join him: Elliot Knight has been tapped to play Merlin and Joana Metrass has been set to play Guinevere. In addition, Andrew Jenkins has nabbed the guest role of Percival, one of Arthur’s most loyal knights.

Merlin is pretty dang young, actor wise. Elliot Knight is only 25 (same age as me, actually). This is actually younger than the casting call mentioned, which was seeking someone in their early 30s or 40s. I’m intrigued with this out of the box casting.
So…. Merlin is young? Hmmm. I actually figured he’d be somewhere along the same age as apprentice guy. Okay. I like this
His casting call said he’d be in his early to mid 30s. However, this is a bit too young even for that.
I’m pretty sure that part of Merlin’s mythology is that he gets younger as he gets…older. Like he ages backwards–or I believe T.H. White calls it “living backwards.” So his super young age obviously belies the fact that he’s ancient.

Now ordinary people are born forwards in Time, if you understand what I mean, and nearly everything in the world goes forward too. This makes it quite easy for the ordinary people to live, just as it would be easy to join those five dots into a W if you were allowed to look at them forwards, instead of backwards and inside out. But I unfortunately was born at the wrong end of time, and I have to live backwards from in front, while surrounded by a lot of people living forwards from behind. Some people call it having a second sight.

Hmm. That would explain why he seems to be the chessmaster. He has put a lot of different pieces in place in this story.
If he is this old, I wonder if that means he is close to death.
I knew it! Merlin’s a young fella, who although is 400-500 years of age, looks 28 year old.

I was thinking the same. My initial thought was that The Sorcerer was most likely immortal since he has been around since the first dark one which is at least 300 years, plus blue fairy knows him and she is also older than rump, but A&E said that while the sorcerer is not Yen Sid, it belonged to him or could have because the hat can be passed down, which means to me there had been more than one sorcerer which means they die.
