Grail / Excalibur / Dagger = Merlin / Nimue / Emma

I liked the symbolism here.

The Grail imparted great magical power, to two people: Merlin and Nimue. One is pure of heart, and embodies all the good that the power can be. The other allowed herself to be corrupted by anger, and so came to manifest all the evil that the same power is capable of.

Because it is the same power, from the same source. They are both still connected to the Grail (now sword) that is the source of all this power. It is the same force, split between two people like two sides of a coin, like yin and yang. And in the exact same way, the sword is split. With Excalibur symbolizing (and tethered to) Merlin and all that is good, and the Dagger symbolizing (and tethered to) the Dark Ones and all that is evil.

Isn’t that great symmetry? 😎
